Ralph

I found this 14k gold ring with 5 nice diamonds in the damp sand this past saturday while hunting the shallow surf and damp sand zone here in va beach, va.

It gave that great minelab lower tone, so i am expecting pulltab, nickel or maybe a gold ring, when i washed out the scoop it was just laying flat and i said, well nice ring, then i reached in and picked it up and then.............N I T R O attack, had to take two pills................

Well, i had it checked and it is not a nitro............the real Mccoy

Thanks for a great set of coils. i also have the X8

See you in the lane

good luck

I have both the WOT 15" and Sunray 12.5" coils. They both work great on the beach. I tend to use the Sunray more because it's lighter than the WOT and it seems to be more sensitive than the WOT. I've found two gold chains this year at the beach. The two chains on top were both found with my Explorer 2 with the Sunray coil. Both gave a very weak but noticeable sound. My detecting buddy had the WOT on his Explorer and he had to scrub the coil on top of the chain before he got a response and the response wasn't a very good one. We both hunt with zero discrimination. I was able to get weak mixed tones at about 2 or 3 inches with the Sunray. I don't remember which chain he checked with the WOT.

Strapped on the SunRay X-12 coil yesterday and hit a few places that I thought were cleaned out. Came up with these deepies that were out of reach with the stock coil. The "V" nickel I think is an 1895, hard to read due to it's condition. Also found a few wheaties...1930, 1920, 1918 and a 1914. Most of these coins averaged from 7" to 11" deep, searched hard for a "D" on the 1914 wheatie but it just wasn't there. :( I tried to get out today but the snow and wind was too much for me...I must be getting old or I'm getting wiser!!

Hello Ralph,
Good to hear from you! Sure, if you want to use any of my posts / photos from there please feel free to do so. The X-12 is a great coil for the type of area I hunt and it allows me to cover a lot of ground pretty fast. It's also great for finding those coins that are just out of reach for the stock coil. I liked it so well that I bought one for my detecting buddy last year for Christmas.  He uses his 90% of the time now.
Thanks for making such great products!!
