DX1 gets two thumbs, way up

Folks,
I have been using a White's DFX for six months. I have been having good luck with this MT but there was one area that I really needed to improve upon. It is pinpointing and locating targets for retrieval. My previous technique was to pinpoint using the DFX, then cut a flap in the sod and use my Bullseye pointer to locate the target. A pretty standard technique. Fairly time consuming but it worked. Several months ago I purchased a DD1400 coil which served to drive the pinpointing issue even further to the front burner.
Last week I took the step of purchasing a DX1 probe. I have to say that this purchase was, hands down, my best accessory purchase to date. I have three coils for my DFX, the 4x6, 9.5 and 1400. Using the DFX to pinpoint with the 4x6 and 9.5 coils works reasonably well, typically the target can be located to within a few inches. Attempting to pinpoint with the 1400 is another story. Using this coil targeting can be problematic. I have, on many occasions, pinpointed to within what I thought was a few inches only to dig a hole and find the target several inches off to the side of the hole.
Now enter the DX1. Makes no difference what coil I have attached to the DFX. Just use the DFX to zero in to close proximity. Switch over to the DX1 and pinpoint the target to within an inch. The rest is history. Since using the DX1 I have yet to dig a hole in the conventional sense. You may be wondering, with only a weeks use, how I can provide such a strong testimonial. Well its easy, I used a Bullseye for 6 months and it worked well, so I thought. As soon as I installed the DX1 and ran it across my test plot, I immediately realized this device was special. Out in the field, the first coin I located and pinpointed with the DX1, I was able to hit with a probe. This proved to be the norm for all coins that were within 2 inches or so of the surface. For deeper coins I typically only had to cut a slit in the sod in order to get the probe tip down just enough to pick up a very weak signal. As long as the DX1 had any signal what so ever, finding the coin (and more than a few pull tabs) was a piece of cake. Am I enthusiastic with the capability of the DX1? You bet I am.
Keep in mind that the DX1 is directly connected to the MT and all signals it generates are heard over the headphones. All metal mode as well as discriminate mode. It is this integration that makes the DX1 such a very valuable tool.
Highly recommended. Two thumbs, way up.

I just wanted to thank Sunray for the DX-1 probe. I use it almost exclusively after I open up a hole. The probe sure helped me locate the half dollar pictured in the attachment.
